About Jane

Having started her career as an actress, Jane's springboard into filmmaking came in 2005 when she made her first film "Together Alone". Jane has since gone on to write and direct numerous short films and has three feature films in development. Last year she set up 'Shoreline Pictures' with business partner James Fox. They are currently shooting a feature length documentary and music videos.. Jane recently won a 'best script' award at The Super Shorts International Film Festival and was nominated for 'best director'.

The film is unsparing in its visual detailing of his condition, but achieves a universality in its theme of a son wanting to shake off the shackles of a loving but perhaps over-protective father, capped by sympathetic lead performances from Darren Kent and Lewis Nicolas. (Jonathan Bygraves)In the New British Shorts segment, Jane Gull's Sunny Boy and Michael Pearce’s BAFTA-nominated ‘Rite’ were two films that particularly stood out and, interestingly, both depicted problematic father-son relationships. Sunny Boy is a tender portrait of a caring, yet over-protective father and his son, Danny, as they both try to cope with the restrictions of Danny's painful rare skin allergy to sunlight. Jane has produced and directed many live events and performances. Recent work includes:BBC BLAST Blast on Tour takes its mobile media village to around 30 locations each year. In 2009 it travelled the UK to provide free creative arts workshops and showcases for 150,000 participants. With purpose-built digital workshop spaces and a performance area, young people can book into activity led by BBC mentors and industry professionals or drop in to taster sessions, Q&A’s with celebrity talent and just chat to one of the team in the Discovery Space. 2008-2010 Jane produced the BBC Blast London events in partnership with the BFI, National Theatre and Soutbank Centre. She has also organised Blast events in Milton Keynes, Peterborough and Ipswich as well as being Project Manager for all the 2010 events in the South East.
Jane facilitates media and theatrical workshops for young people and vulnerable adults. As well as running her own workshops she has worked for Signals Media Arts, BBC Blast,Creative Partnerships, Storymakers TV, Starstruck Theatre School, Hyper Fusion Theatre Company...Signals Media Arts Centre is a base for independent filmmaking and education. Signals works directly with filmmakers, artists, children, young people and disadvantaged groups, providing innovative and creative work that develops knowledge, understanding and skills.Signals projects that Jane has worked on from 2006 - current day.HIDDEN LINKS A short dramatic film made by young people for young people about the effects of Chlamdydia PENPAL A short animation developed with Colchester and Ipswich Museums and explores themes offriendship and travel.Made by young people in Foster Care.
